Website checklist for texting

What carriers look for on your website before they approve your texting, as a checklist.

Carriers read your website before they approve your texting registration. Most rejections come from a missing piece below. This is what carriers look for, not legal advice; for legal questions, ask your attorney.

The checklist

  1. Your site is live and shows your business name, the same name on your registration, plus a way to reach you (an email or phone number).
  2. A privacy policy page that says you don't share mobile numbers or texting consent with anyone for marketing. For example: "No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties."
  3. Texting terms on the site: what you'll text about, that message frequency varies, that message and data rates may apply, and how to stop and get help. For example: "Reply STOP to opt out, or HELP for help."
  4. A consent checkbox on every form that asks for a phone number, like your cash offer form. It starts unchecked and says they agree to get texts from your business, with links to your terms and privacy policy.
  5. Links to both pages in your site's footer, so they're on every page.

After you change your site

Tell our team. If your registration was already turned down, we resubmit it. See Texting registration was rejected.

Good to know

  • A seller who texts STOP is opted out right away and never texted again. START opts them back in.
  • The people you text must have agreed to hear from you. Name your business in your texts.
